Celebrities Without Makeup: Instagram Selfies

Any celebrity who takes her popularity seriously is on Instagram. And chances are, she's posted a photo of herself without makeup. It's The Thing to Do at the moment. In this gallery I feature 29 of my favorite "no makeup" selfies by actresses, models and musicians, including this shot of Lady Gaga.

Gaga posted this photo on her Instagram on April 30, 2015 with the caption, "A beautiful relaxing day with my family.

Before Instagram, we had little more than paparazzi shots to give us a glimpse of celebrity private lives. You can't trust the magazines, because everyone is airbrushed to death. And forget television, too. Somewhere underneath all that professionally applied makeup you might find the person. But with Instagram, fans are invited along for the ride. We can go inside a celebrity's home, we can go backstage, we see her with her dogs and her kids (remember the days pre-Instagram when celebrities were so protective of their children?), and sometimes even her ... bed.

You did read that right. Because this gallery is about women wearing no makeup, you'll see many no makeup selfies taken from bed with captions such as, "good morning" and "night, night."

Now that's not to say these woman don't have any help. You'll likely notice a lot of eyelash extensions and lip fillers among the celebrities and It Models featured here.

And let's not discount the fact that all of these social media savvy celebs likely use Instagram filters which erase flaws almost as well as Photoshop. And who among us would ever post a photo of us that wasn't flattering? So there's that. Everyone on Instagram looks pretty darn good because as with Facebook, Instagram is all about curating lives. When you have 30-plus million followers, as some of these women do, you have to be very careful with your social media presence.
